Study Habits and Scholarship
Study implies investigation of mastery of facts, ideas or procedures which are unknown or partially known to the individual. There are many reasons for a person to desire for study. There are some rules of study with efficiency. A person who desires to study well must know these rules. The result will be more effective with the guidance of an efficient and experienced teacher. The analysis of study habits and the effects show that there are two types of learners. The slower pupils are not able to understand the work, use facts and grasp meanings as in the case of more able pupils.
Many people are able to develop efficient study habits without any special formal training. However, there are several methods of study habits for satisfactory result. One must bear in mind the following points in study habits.
17 Rules to study well

Forgetting:
In spite of the cautions taken keeping in mind the above mentioned study habit rules, there is a setback for the total result due to a brain factor called 'Forgetting'. Memory is the ability to remember what has been previously learned. Forgetting is just the opposite of memory. It is the mental failure of facts and a setback in the ability of reproducing the experiences of past events. The mind becomes weak to recollect or associate facts of past experience. This is because of the person failing to bring the facts subsequently for use. This may be due to over loading the brain with facts of experience.
Learning for a long time without any break or rest, not changing the subject of learning and following the same method of learning without interest. The subject of study without interest and proper motivation result in forgetting easily and quickly. Forgetting is not always an unwanted thing. It is needed sometimes to be free from over burden of thoughts and worries. Indeed, forgetting is a gift for human beings.
Study signifies the concentrated employment of one's mental faculties for the acquisition of knowledge in a particular field or subject. The serious study of any subject requires a detailed consideration and understanding of it. Study usually involves active participation in the chosen area, leading to a comprehensive awareness and broadening of one's vision.
Study can be undertaken on one's own, or with the help of external agencies. A person deciding to study has to develop and maintain certain skills that are indispensable. The first among these is the ability to remain focused. One should be realistic when setting personal and academic goals for study. This means that before choosing a subject for study, the time available, the expenditure involved, the scope of the subject and related factors should be carefully considered. Study of a subject also calls for skillful time management. Especially if the study is undertaken by an employed person, he should be able to balance one's profession and study.
When one goes in for formal study at a school or college, it is crucial to attend the lectures and be up-to-date with the course work and assignments. This is where a systematic, orderly work schedule will help. One can also train one's memory and comprehension skills to aid study. Study can be informal, in that one can choose to study on one's own. Here too, it is important that one is committed to one's goal. Postponing things to do is a major factor that hinders any kind of study.
The greatest advantage of any kind of study is that it makes an individual broad-minded and receptive to new ideas. Home-study programs and study-abroad programs are available for individuals to choose from. One can also enroll in study groups that share common interests; the additional advantage here is that constructive interaction with others in the group aids in a better understanding of the subjects taken up for study.

Moving around all of the time is an intricate part of many peoples' lives. These folks have long commutes, especially to and from their school campus. This travel time can use up a large portion of their time and still they have to go home and hit the books. Would it not be easier if they could combine the two things together and get both done in less time?
This can be surely be your reality if you put your mind to it. All you have to do to make this happen is to bring along study material on your trips, but some study methods are more effective than others while on the go.
Here are some tips on the study material you should bring while traveling.
Stay away from using text books - While it is true that everything you need to know resides within a text book, there is an easier way to study without lugging around a heavy text book. Also, it is really ineffective and illogical to use one because of one simple fact.
You will be studying in bursts.
You will not be spending 100 per cent of your commute time studying. You will have other things that require your attention like getting off at the right stop or anything else that comes to mind. What you need is something more simple to study from.
One could use a single subject notebook. These can work, but just like the text book, it can be annoying to bring around with you. You can do better then this.
The best things to take with you to study from on your trips are one of these two things.
The first thing you can use is a cheat sheet/study sheet. A study sheet is great because it is just one sheet that you can easily fold and store in a pocket. Then, you can whip it out when ever you have a burst of study time.
As a quick reminder, search online on how to make a proper study sheet. They should have the information well organized and have lots of visual objects like graphs, doodles, and mind-maps. The use of these images will help you better retain information with quick bursts of studying.
The second thing you can use is a pocket sized notebook. Most people use these to quickly record notes, but they can also be used as an object one can quickly pull out and study from. A mini, pocket sized notebook is my favorite tool to study on the go.
Location, location, location is a popular phrase used when establishing a new franchise of stores in business. Location is also important when studying in school. Whether in the dorm, at the library, at home, or in the park you can have a study location that enhances your Academic success.
As a Academic Success Coach, there are many things I love to do that do not pertain to academics. When I am not speaking or traveling to schools I love to kick back and watch shows on Home and Garden Television (HGTV). "Design on a Design", "Designer's Challenge", and "Divine Design" are few of my favorite shows. They all fuel my hobby of home decor and home decorating.
Today I want to share with you a few things to consider when developing your personal study location.
1. Establish a place to study outside of your bedroom. Your bedroom is a place for resting, relaxing, and recuperating. Resist the temptation to rest or get in the bed to interfere with your studying.
2. Study in a clean and organized environment.
3. Keep your study location cool. Warm rooms causes sluggishness. Cool rooms causes alertness (that's why movie theaters are so chilly).
4. Study in well lit conditions. You must be able to see it if you will ever be able to learn it. Plus, poorly lit rooms will damage your eyes when readying.
5. Avoid studying in the bed; you WILL eventually fall asleep.
6. Choose a location where a telephone is not accessible, if there is, allow voice mail to work for you, "Hello, I am studying; please call after..."
7. Make sure a television is not in operation near your location. You can not fully concentrate on two things at the same time, so fully focus on your studies and not television.
8. Avoid studying in high-traffic study areas, so you won't get distracted. Especially from those of the opposite sex.
From these above tips, you can get creative in building your customized study location. If it is really nice maybe we can both go on a HGTV reality show to feature your new study location.
Remember: In everything you do - Play Your "A" Game!
It's important to create a study space to get you tone the things you want to learn. Although, you can study in any place you want, it's not good to ignore the importance of a place where you can concentrate and at peace to relax while studying.
A good learner needs a productive study environment. In order to have a good learning skills, you should provide yourself with the most fundamental tools - a productive space where you can study effectively.
The followings are the tips to create for a productive study environment
1. Comfortable space. The place should be a little comfortable, but not to the extent that you're so at ease that would result to become sleepy easily. Make sure that you're far away from your bed. There's a great correlation between the bed and studying. When you study in bed, you'll easily get sleepy.
2. Organize space. Make your study room well organized, clean and everything are in their proper place. Make it a habit to always clean your study room before and after leaving. An orderly room makes your learning much better.
3. Good lighting system. It's important to have your study room well lighted. It also includes what colors of lights you installed. Light colors greatly affects your learning ability. Study shows that black, dark blue and dull gray light colors do less to help our brain function than warmer colored ones. While, light colors such as green, is a color of creativity, and light blues, warm yellow or cream yellow are good colors too.
4. Inspirational music. For me, I can't concentrate without a soft mellow music around. I prefer classical music, instrumental jazz, and western songs. Though, others prefer a silent place, but most people I talked, prefers to have with them a soft mellow sound during their study hours.
5. Good attitude of study habit. A good attitude can get you with lots of challenges you wish to accomplish. Creating a productive study environment may seems tedious, but with your good attitude in relation to your good study habit is just as easy creating bad ones. Just be patient to force yourself to be disciplined.
6. Privacy matters most. To avoid distraction, make your study room more private, that no one can get in when you're studying inside. Let all members of your family know that your study hour should be kept private and nobody is allowed to disturb you unless in case of emergency.
There are some others tips you can add to create a productive study environment, depending on your own desires. But, the above tips I enumerated are enough to give you some guides how a good study room should be created to suit your learning environment more enjoyable.

Plants are shaped by cultivation and men by education. .. We are born weak, we need strength; we are born totally unprovided, we need aid; we are born stupid, we need judgment. Everything we do not have at our birth and which we need when we are grown is given us by education.
